It's been a week since 2011 began, and here I am posting my resolutions. A little late, I know, but man I did put some thought on them. I guess I'm being really ambitious, but if I don't have high expectations I won't get on-par returns. ;)
- I want to spend less time online. Random internet surfing leads me to unexpected learning, but it can be very time consuming, and I want to dedicate myself to more rewarding activities, such as making crafts and above all, resparkling my relationship with non-college-related literature. Plus, the more I read the more I write, and I really need to polish my writing skills if I want to become a productive author.
So here come the big news: I've discontinued my broadband service until, at least, the start of the next semester. No internet at home for me for a while. And, to make things more drastic, I got a cell phone (!!!) so I can stay connected with my friends and organise meetups and outings. In case you didn't know, I've never had a mobile phone before so this is a giant change for me. I still hate people knowing where I am once I'm out of home, so I'll probably turn off the thing often. xD
- As a corollary, I want to spend more time outdoors. I want to go back to taking meaningless walks, explore those parts of town I don't know yet (Buenos Aires is sooo huge) and take spontaneous daytrips to nearby locations.
- I want to move to a new apartment. Expenses have become too high, neighbours are too old and intolerant, and building regulations prevent me from taking my bike in and out the building (I break the rules, but my stuckup neighbours keep complaining).
- I want to be done with classes so I can dedicate my time to taking the finals and writing papers in
order to graduate next year.
- I need to learn how to be more tolerant with the intolerant. It's awfully hard for me to put up with chauvinist, sexist and general right-wing attitudes and opinions, especially when they come from my family, so I need to keep calm and carry on or at least try to keep my opposing them apart from heated discussion.
- I really want to dye my hair red when summer ends. Something like this picture would be fine.

- I want to incorporate more colours into my coords and make bold experiments. This doesn't mean I'll be moving on from all-black or goth, I just think I can juggle more styles now.
- I need to learn to apply make-up better. I've always failed at applying false lashes, so this would be a good start!
- I want to mix more styles: try dolly-kei (from autumn on!), go back to steampunk, and above all, start building a mod style wardrobe: scooter dresses, go-go boots, psychedelic prints and the like <3
- I really want to spend less money on clothes. Even if this seems to clash with the last resolution, I just want to buy less and make more. It'd be awesome to learn to sew better. And try to limit my spending to thrift shops, second hand bargains, Taobao, and end-of-season sales.
Last, but not least, I want to
talk more with strangers,
follow all the white rabbits I come across,
and suck the marrow of life to the fullest
(not just this year, but until I'm just a handful of pixie dust).
Will I succeed, what do you think?

Just wanted to share one of the most hilarious videos I've recently watched:
I was perusing my user info page and noticed that somehow I hadn't added as friends many of you whom I was positively sure I had. Sorry girls! I've just remedied my omission.
Not much to say because I'm studying for finals like a mole underground. I'll be free next Wednesday!

Oops, I almost forget to ask you about my current, non-original obsession: Tumblr.
Have you got one? Please give me some links and show me inspirational / pretty stuff!

What a productive day this has been! I made up for waking up too late (even for a night owl as me) by getting some stuff done. My fridge was kinda empty so I had to do some groceries, fixed a couple of buttons and jewels, modded a corsage and a bow and read a bunch of pages of a huge (but awesome) book I need to finish by Friday.
The ETC onepiece I was waiting for finally arrived home and made me so happy. It's damn pretty and has a great fit. I never thought a floral print could be that wearable, I can picture a lot of coords with it... I feel I should refrain from wearing it too often xD.
I've also set on two new goals:
1) I NEED to beat Bart vs. the Space Mutants (yes, that bloody hard game for NES) before the year ends. I played it a lot as a child and could never get past the fourth level and THIS IS IT. It's war. My boyfriend suggested I play it on an emulator, but in order to skip the temptation to save the game, I'll do it on my Family Game console. It doesn't get any more vintage, lol.
2) I should start doing research for a lecture I'd like to give next August. I have to hand on a brief around July 5th, so I need to get a precise idea of what I want to go for... the sooner the better as exams season's about to start. =O

My long-awaited journey starts tomorrow, so I won't be here for a while. My boyfriend and I will be taking a train to my hometown, so we get a couple of hours' sleep, and get up really early to start hitchhiking our way to Patagonia (the western side, packed with forests, mountains and lakes). Backpack clad, we'll try to stay off the usual tourist tracks to get a better grasp of nature far from the presence of other human beings. It's not the first time I go camping, but it'll be the first without the amenities a bigger/family camping offers. Yes, there are few to no bathrooms in a national park xD.
Plus, I have space for only ONE book! T_T
It's a tragedy, I know, but at least "The Illuminatus! trilogy" by R. Shea and R. A. Wilson is long, dense and paperback, so it'll have to do.
Worst part is, I have a paper to finish before setting off. I don't know how on Earth I'll find enough time to pack all my stuff, get everything done aaaaand finish my paper before tomorrow. "The best I can is good enough", I sing along Radiohead.
So, wish me luck and strength (I don't want to think about all the stuff I'll have to carry, and I'm keeping it to just-the-essentials), (and think of me when other needy backpackers give you a thumb)
In case you wonder, I'll be back around February 25th. It can be a bit earlier of later.
So, till then...
and be merry!!!

- Mood:
anxious
The stars are forth, the moon above the tops
of the snow-shining mountains. Beautiful!
I linger yet with Nature, for the Night
hath been to me a more familiar face
than that of man; and in her starry shade
of dim and solitary loveliness,
I learn'd the language of another world.
Lord Byron - Manfred (fragment)
Fuckin' Byron. He speaks so strongly yet beautifully of the things I feel I can't but love him, a man who lived and died two centuries ago.
